Is Sustagen® suitable for people who are lactose intolerant?
Sustagen® is a milk based product therefore is unsuitable for those who are lactose intolerant.
However, Lactase drops are available through pharmacies which can be added to Sustagen® to counteract the lactose.
Does Sustagen® contain Iodine?
Yes, products in the Sustagen® range contains Iodine and may be unsuitable for those with Thyroid dysfunction.
Does Sustagen® contain Vitamin K?
Yes, Sustagen® contains Vitamin K in normally safe levels at 25.2ug per 60g serve. However, dietary intake
should be monitored by a healthcare professional if patients are using Warfarin or blood thinning agents.
Is Sustagen® suitable for vegetarians/vegans?
Sustagen® is a bovine milk-based product so it is not suitable for individuals who follow a vegan diet.
It is however suitable for vegetarians who consume dairy products (e.g lacto-ovo or lacto-vegetarians).
Is Sustagen® suitable during Pregnancy?
The National Health & Medical Research Council (the government body responsible for setting the nutrient RDI’s
and upper limits for the Australian & New Zealand populations) has set the following recommendations in
relation to Vitamin A for pregnant women:
