    Swallowing Difficulties

Chewing and swallowing food is something most of us naturally do every day without giving much thought to it. However for some people chewing and swallowing can be a difficult task. This could be due to:

Dysphagia: Dysphagia is described as difficulty or discomfort when swallowing. It occurs when nerves and muscles used for swallowing become damaged.

Oral or dental surgery: Chewing or swallowing might be painful or difficult due to surgical incisions, swelling or restricted movement.

Dentures: New or ill-fitting dentures may cause difficulty or discomfort when chewing.
