Frequently asked questions

  • Have the recipes changed on these products?

No. The recipes for SUSTAGEN Hospital Formula, SUSTAGEN Hospital Formula Plus Fibre and SUSTAGEN Ready-To-Drink remain the same recipes you know and trust.

  • SUSTAGEN Hospital Formula Strawberry flavour now contains wheat? How can this be Gluten Free?

All our SUSTAGEN products undergo testing to ensure there is no detectable gluten. For SUSTAGEN Hospital Formula Strawberry, one component of the flavour contains maltodextrin derived from wheat. As required by the Food Standards Code, we must declare “wheat” in the ingredient list and allergen statement, which is why the label includes “Contains Wheat.” However, this ingredient is so highly refined that there is no detectable gluten present. Every batch is carefully tested before release to ensure no gluten is detected, so you can feel confident in the product’s safety and quality.

  • Why does SUSTAGEN Hospital Formula now say “Original”?

“Original” has been added to the pack to help make it easier to distinguish from other products in the range, such as Plus Fibre and OPTIMUM.

  • Why has the age guidance changed on SUSTAGEN Hospital Formula?

We've updated the on-pack serve guidance following a review of nutrient levels against age-appropriate recommendations. Based on this review and the recommended intake of two serves per day, SUSTAGEN Hospital Formula is now recommended for individuals aged 9 years and older.

  • Why has the age guidance changed on SUSTAGEN Ready to Drink?

We’ve updated the on-pack serve guidance following a review of all nutrient levels to ensure they align with age-appropriate recommendations. SUSTAGEN Ready-to-Drink is suitable from 4 years, with a recommendation of no more than one serve per day for children aged 4–8 years.

  • My child is aged 4 - 8 years, is it safe for them to continue?

Healthcare professionals are free to make their own clinical judgement on whether these products are appropriate for their patients 4-8 years. For children not under healthcare supervision, both SUSTAGEN Hospital Formula and SUSTAGEN Ready‑to‑Drink should be used in line with the on‑pack guidance.

  • Is the SUSTAGEN Sport or SUSTAGEN Optimum undergoing a packaging change?

SUSTAGEN Sport, SUSTAGEN Everyday and SUSTAGEN OPTIMUM will also receive a packaging refresh, planned for early 2027.
